Netflix Officially Announced For Playstation 3

Well, it seems that Sony and Netflix have unveiled a partnership bringing the popular movie rental/streaming service to the Playstation 3. An application based system will allow PSN accounts to gain access to millions of movies and TV shows and stream them directly. Hopefully this will be included in somewhat of a firmware update soon as well as several other long awaited features. For more information see  Playstation Blog.

Update: In order to use the streaming service, an “instant streaming disc” will be needed. Netflix has said that this feature will be downloadable software in early 2010.
